Somehow, over the last couple of weeks, Christmas, New Year’s, and my birthday all came and went and now it’s suddenly 2012. While I have a hard time believing how quickly time seems to be moving right now, at least this new month means that I can go back to my new favorite gig: concert reviewing! On New Year’s I took in what one of my critic-colleagues described as Boston’s potential rival to the Vienna Philharmonic’s annual New Year’s Concert (for any number of reasons, I don’t think that anything is going to come close to competing with the Vienna performances, especially in this country – except, maybe, the New York Philharmonic playing American music to ring in the new year). Regardless, my review of the Boston Baroque playing a fine and varied program at Sanders Theater can be found here. If you’re so inclined, you can even stream the concert on demand from WGBH here and listen as you read.
